Walking through the hushed corridors
of The Bromptons is like being let into a magnificent secret.
Abigail Hofman, an investment banker, lives in a large duplex
on the second floor.
It stood bare except for the distinctive period details the developers had put in.
Abigail had admired the development’s show apartment so she
got in touch with design consultant Helen Green, who had furnished
it with an eclectic choice of fine art, antique furniture and
artefacts.

"When we met I warmed to her immediately," says Abigail.
"I thought she’d be able to interpret my lifestyle."
In fact, it’s testimony to this initial meeting and their
great working relationship that Abigail and Helen remain friends
three years on.
For Helen it was an opportunity to harness her own signature style
– what she describes as modern classical – with the
grand scale and period details already in place. The apartment needed
to be chic and restrained but with an upbeat tempo to suit the lifestyle
of a young, successful businesswoman.
This is the 10th apartment that Helen has decorated in The Bromptons,
but she insists that each one is unique. "We never impose our
own style on somebody and say, 'You have to have this,'" she
explains. "It's showing our client images and getting to know
them that helps us create the picture. But I have to say I'm really
pleased with how this has worked out – and Abigail is my model
client because she keeps it beautiful.
