Helen Green launches Contemporary Elegance and the Helen Green Fabric Collection, in collaboration with Fox Linton, at Decorex 2008.
Helen Green’s name is synonymous with style and elegance. The company, born out of passion and vision, has an established reputation for designing and creating interiors that combine comfort and practicality, with sophistication. Inspired by the silver screen era, and the cool neutral palettes that are her signature, Helen and her team of 16 designers and interior architects collaborate with their clients to produce results that reflect their clients’ lifestyles, rather than imposing a design dictate. As Helen says, ‘you start by listening, and understanding your client’s vision. It’s really not about imposing a rigid style; it’s more a journey of discovery. Different junctions and possible routes are discussed, and ultimately we arrive at the destination together’. It is this ethos and creative skill that has attracted and maintained a wide private and commercial client base; from private residences in Belgravia, Estates in Yorkshire, The Berkeley Hotel in Knightsbridge, the Corsair yacht, to the Sandpiper and Coral Reef Hotel in Barbados – where Helen and her team are currently designing a new spa.
In July 2008, Helen launched her state of the art Flagship Showroom on the site of the iconic pub The Australian, a venue known more for its clientele, including The Rolling Stones (who were photographed for the first time, by Philip Townsend back in May l963) and the England and Australian cricket teams, who drank there on a regular basis.
Helen knew the site well and had long admired the architecture of the building. On July 16th the showroom was launched – a flagship that now houses the design studio, offices, and ground floor showroom showcasing a selection of furniture, gifts and accessories, and her latest project; a fabric collection in collaboration with Fox Linton.
Now Helen is launching her second furniture collection at Decorex. Beautifully designed, the Contemporary Elegance collection consists of some 25 individually developed pieces all made in the UK by skilled craftsmen using traditional methods. Inspiration for this collection is anchored in luxury city living, where quality is a pre-requisite, although the lack of symmetry gives the pieces a versatility – allowing them to work effortlessly in both traditional landscapes and the contemporary modern environment. Lighting features strongly in the collection through the hand blown glass in three jewel-like colours; while the highly polished veneers in macassar and classic finishes ensure Contemporary Elegance is another success from the Helen Green stable.
To compliment Contemporary Elegance, Helen is also launching her first fabric collection, in collaboration with Fox Linton. Fox Linton’s experience in weave technology, fabric dyes and finishing techniques has let Helen develop a bravura fabric collection in natural fibres.
There are 3 styles in this collection; Drappier, which is 100% lambswool, soft to touch but weighty, in a neutral palette of 6 colours including Silver Mist and Ginger Snap.
Mélé introduces the colour Silver Dove and uses vibrant yet subtle contrast colours to offset the muted base, bringing in a sense of depth and dimension.
Soirie, meanwhile, is 100% silk, with subdued colours to be used with Drappier and Mélé for curtains and light upholstery.
