Bespoke Joinery – Country Residence, Surrey

Written by Charlotte Miller

At Helen Green Design we get the privilege of working alongside some of the best artists, joiners, and suppliers in the industry. Our design and their work can be demonstrated throughout all our projects and none more so than our latest Country Residence project in Surrey.

All the joinery in the property was custom designed by the talented Helen Green Design team and executed by one of our specially selected joiners. We only work with the very best to ensure the finest quality of finishes and intricate details for every bespoke piece.

One of the best examples of bespoke joinery can be seen within His and Her Dressing Rooms in the Master Suite. The suite was configured to enhance our client’s quality of life on different work schedules and complement individual tastes within one space. Our brief was to create a strongly masculine and feminine space, uniting with harmony in the shared bedroom. Following an initial brief from the clients we delved into the detailed design for both dressing rooms where we focused on custom details such as integrated jewellery display cases in the island and tie hangers within the wardrobe. Once the designs are ready and meet all our clients’ criteria, we then work closely with our joiners to ensure the products are made and finished to the highest quality and detail. Resulting in some truly beautiful, long lasting bespoke pieces.

Another area we are particularly proud of is the Study, situated on the far side of the property you’ll find the perfect northern light for consistent light levels during the working day. In this space we played with the build-up of texture with a nod to the client’s heritage using a tartan wallpaper alongside rich toned joinery with a suede back and carefully placed metal in-lay. The joinery was carefully designed to house all the client’s IT equipment so it could all be concealed in the low-level joinery. The central focal point of this office is the desk, this piece encapsulates the theme of the property with its classic contemporary design which required three different trades to execute this masterpiece. The desk leather was hand dyed and shipped to our supplier making the carcass. Once fitted and at completion, the foil stamping was then done in situ to avoid any stretching or crooked lines. This level of care and detail has been replicated throughout the residence with a keen story behind every piece.

The overall palette of the property balances a fine line of Helen Green Design’s timeless British design paired with a contemporary country aesthetic. Layers of delicate texture and fine details compound the rhythm of this family home which is punctuated with moments of hidden gems such as the Powder Room. This jewellery box was inspired by the clients love of Annabel’s bathroom, incorporating De Gournay’s hand painted wallpaper, bespoke vanities, and carefully curated stone. The expanse of the powder room adds to the drama of it’s setting in a family home, making it the perfect focal point whenever hosting.
