Style Tip: Decorating Your Home for Easter
As the first blooms and green buds of Spring are appearing, our interior design team have enjoyed discovering new ways to decorate a home for the Easter season.
Taking inspiration from nature and the current season in selecting colours, textures and accessories will truly bring an Easter feel into your home.
Colour: select sage this season
At Helen Green Design, we recommend using subtle spring colours, such as sage green, as seen on the catwalk at the start of this year. Neutral tones alongside the darker shades of green can freshen and brighten a room. Selecting an oversized tall green glass vase, or a hurricane lantern, to hold your freshly cut seasonal flowers is the perfect way to make a statement floral piece. We suggest choosing soft pastel colours, in the form of camellias or tulips, to instantly create your Spring arrangement for a console table in the hallway, or a perhaps as a centrepiece for your dining room table on Easter Sunday.
Texture: find the soft starts of Spring
Linen and cotton are ideal fabrics to add a Spring touch to your home. They are both lightweight, soft and feather-like to touch. Throws and blankets in soft greens or neutral colours to decorate your living room furniture is one way to do it, or large cotton tablecloths for dining. Alternatively, it can be achieved on a more subtle scale with natural linen napkins, or textured place mats for the dining table.
Accessories: all about Easter
Seasonal accessories in your home is a temporary way to paint a touch of Easter. Ornately hand-painted eggs could be tied onto some foliage, such as eucalyptus stems, with delicate pastel ribbons for a whisper of whimsy and adding interest to your home. The easiest way to infuse Spring through home décor is with delicious diffusers and scented candles with scents of flowers or citrus, to bring a fresh Spring odour into the home.
