At Helen Green Design, some of our most rewarding projects are those that evolve over time - and this beautiful family home in Wimbledon is a perfect example.

Originally designed by our team over 15 years ago, the home has stood the test of time, both in its design and in our relationship with the clients. When they returned to us in recent years, it marked a natural continuation of that partnership, giving us the opportunity to thoughtfully refresh key spaces while honouring the timeless elements already embedded within the home.

Our most recent phase of work focused on revitalising several important areas, including the main living room, an outdoor loggia extension, selected elements within the kitchen, and the master bedroom. Each space presented an opportunity not only to update the aesthetic but also to deepen the home’s sense of comfort, personality, and functionality.

What made this project particularly special was the clients’ openness to evolving their style. While we carefully respected and incorporated existing pieces - many of which hold both sentimental and design value - we also introduced a more organic, family-friendly palette with subtly playful tones. These choices reflect the family’s lifestyle and their appreciation for oriental design influences, while harmonising beautifully with the home’s stunning garden setting.

In the loggia, we developed an integrated design solution to conceal MEP elements, transforming a technical requirement into a decorative feature through intricately hand-embroidered panels. This thoughtful approach ensured that functionality never compromised aesthetic integrity. Across the project, bespoke elements played a key role, from custom furniture pieces to a carefully designed headboard in the master bedroom, each tailored to the clients’ needs and the home’s character.

Working closely with a family over time brings a unique depth to the design process. Understanding how they live - particularly in a home shared with children - allows us to create spaces that are not only elegant but also practical and enduring. These ongoing collaborations are incredibly fulfilling, as they enable us to design with genuine insight into our clients’ lives.

The journey with this Wimbledon home continues. Most recently, we successfully completed one of the children’s bedrooms, adding another layer to this evolving story. It is projects like these - rooted in trust, creativity, and continuity - that truly define our work at Helen Green Design.
